I need 1 non-fiction book cover designed. This project has the potential for 1 follow-up paid project too, a sequel with a focus on marriage.
On the front cover I need the Title in the largest font (An Unexpected Freedom), Subtitle smaller than the title (Discover Peace and Joy in the Reality of Life), and Author Name (Tara Lalonde). These can be different font colors from one another. I also will need in smallest font, centered at the bottom: “Foreword by Kary Oberbrunner” [hard return] “Author of Day Job to Dream Job, The Deeper Path, and Your Secret Name”.
This book cover will come in 3 versions: paperback 6x9 inches (Create Space specs), paperback 6x9 inches (Ingram publishing specs), hardcover case laminate 6x9 inches (Ingram publishing specs). Their websites have the correct dimensions, bleed, etc.
I want you to have creative freedom with the design. That said, I do have ideas in terms of direction. I have included a photo that I took that was my inspiration for my imagery of going into and back out of a rugged valley in this book. The valley is to be desert or something very rugged or raw – not commonly considered beautiful. This is the valley of dying-to-self and the reader will find surprising beauty and hope within this journey.
I have also included other photos below that are not intended to be used specifically. All photos (including mine) are simply ideas for inspiration. I don’t mind you using or manipulating my photo if you desire and the resolution is sufficient, though no preference will be given to that photo specifically. Also, if stock photos are used, it’s best that they are free because I don’t want to pay royalties for the books that are sold.
Please coordinate text colors to the image you choose (use your design judgment - I don't mind bold contrasts), but my preference would be combinations of vibrant blue, indigo, turquoise, lime green, and/or magenta.
Idea #1: picture looking up from a rugged valley with sun breaking through the clouds at the top. You could include someone climbing from behind but not necessarily.
Idea #2: someone (or 2 people) at the top of a cliff looking down into a valley (cliff-top could be super-imposed in the foreground of another pic of rugged valley).
Elements I find interesting in the pics below: fog settling over the valley, rocky paths, sun breaking through clouds, somewhat barren land, cactus, I don’t mind crosses as long as they are not at all prominent. If you include a path, I prefer a winding path over a straight path unless it is along the edge of a cliff/steep hill.
The AAE logos at the bottom are used for the back cover (Author Academy Elite) and spine (AAE).
The back cover will have text. I can supply text when I decide on the final cover. Also, the back cover and spine could bleed over the design from the front cover… to create the feel of one continuous image on the front and back.
NOTE: Feel free to use some creativity too. Surprise me. You might be thinking something I am not. Also, I added some covers at the bottom that appeal to me in general. I like the “feel” of them and they may be a similar genre. They are not necessarily examples of what I want you to create specifically.
