Did you have a favorite piece of playground equipment as a child? Was it a very large swing set? Or, perhaps, the monkey bars? (Both of these are basically outlawed today, by the way.) What about the merry-go-round? For some, the merry-go-round was a source of endless childhood joy; a place where they could spin endlessly, out of control, become dizzy and enjoy a great laugh. For others – those children susceptible to motion sickness - the merry-go-round was to be avoided. Far too often, there was one kid from the neighborhood who took too much joy in turning the merry-go-round faster and faster, ignoring the pleas of some unfortunate kid who did not enjoy the feeling of spinning endlessly, out of control.
