Interfolio needs an illustration of a "network of scholars"

Interfolio helps college & universities make their most important decisions like who to hire to their faculty, who should earn tenure or what curriculum to teach. Schools make all of these decisions with committees of faculty, all of which require enormous amounts of time, energy and money and distract from the core mission of teaching, research and learning.

We solve this problem with our two services: we run the largest professional network of scholars on the web and we provide decision-making software to the schools. Our product runs as a Software-as-a-Service platform that collects, presents and organizes all of the information committees need to make their decisions.

We are building a presentation about our company and want an illustration that shows two things:
1) The "lifecycle of a scholar": Representing how a person is recruited, promoted and tasked with leading others throughout their careers. I have attached a rough sketch example of this.

2) A "scholar network" that represents how scholars are connected to each other through teaching, research and service work.

For example, while a Biology researcher has a very different life from an English Professor, both must navigate the same experiences to get hired at a school, to earn tenure, to win funding dollars, and to serve on committees.

A successful visual will show how each person moves through that lifecycle and will also communicate that all faculty are connected through this similar experience.
