All designers please note: This is my second design contest. The first contest went to the final round and was terminated due to a probably copyright infringement. I identified at least five other designers that were ripping off designs. I will not tolerate copyright infringement; it's wrong and it goes against the core values of my business. If you're using inspiration from another design, I need to see that design, so I can determine if it's too close. If you don't and I find out, I will report you and you'll be eliminated from the contest.
(1) My background: I was in the construction industry for four years out of high school. I went into the military and served 8 years. During my time spent in the military I received my bachelors of science degree in Business Management. Last week, I completed my military contract and I'm building a construction company from the ground up. I'm currently in the start-up phase.
(2) I'm looking for logotype that emphasizes the "J.R. Glick" in J.R. Glick Construction.
(3) I DO NOT want a logo that includes cliche shapes like a building, house, roof, or tool.
(4) I need a logo design that is clean and beautiful. I would like the logo to simply communicate the three core values of my company: character, craftsmanship and discipline. The logo will be enlarged to fit on the side of my work trailer; it should be detailed enough to be interesting up close, but not so detailed that it is hard to understand quickly from a distance.
(4a) I would consider a logo that is plain logotype. If you chose this logo style, I'd like my three core values incorporated underneath, either vertically or horizontally: "character, craftsmanship, discipline."
(4b) I would consider a symbol made from my initials. In this case I like a more geometric approach, and I'd like my initials to stand independently from one another (don't combine J and R).
(4c) I would consider a lion's head logo. This was the winning selection of the first round. To me, the lion represents strength, power and steady discipline, which represents me and my personality well. If you chose to design a lion's head logo, I'd like the general shape to be simple to understand, which means bold lines and basic shapes - I need it to be easy to understand from a distance and at high speeds. I'd like the lion's mane to be moderately detailed. I'd like the lion's face to have a pronounced outline. I'd don't want the lion's face to be heavily shadowed in a way that which splits the face vertically. Lastly, I'd like the lion's mouth to be closed.
