I hope the following provides good inspiration:
Strategic Organization Design is a research unit based at the University of Southern Denmark, whose basic focus is to understand how social organization can lead to better economic performance. The word 'strategic' in our name signifies that our findings can help companies to intelligently plan how their employees should work together.
Our inspiration comes both from human interaction, but more generally the interaction of social organisms, such as insects, or even the interaction of physical particles. Ants or bees, for example, how wonderful organizations and ways of interacting, which solves their problems in amazingly simple ways, despite the limited cognitive ability of each ant or bee. For humans, some of our organizations are like ant nests or bee hives, being random-like, exemplified by stock-markets, with both informed and uninformed individuals. Other times they are very formal, and occupied by informed individuals, like company boards of directors.
At Strategic Organization Design (SOD) we are driven by science, and our main methodology is computer simulation. We build small worlds of interacting "agents" using software, try to understand how systems behave given the rules of interaction, and ultimately use what we discover to further social science, and help decision-makers in general build organizations that facilitate high achievement.
