The logo needs to have a clear visual driving/automotive element incorporated (if only to differentiate the product name from a very noisy USB drive).
The driving element is probably more important than 'click'-ing with a mouse pointer. And while mouse pointers are very recognisable they are becoming less relevant in the mobile age. If you have a good idea along these lines feel free to incorporate it. However, a theme with a mouse pointer as the main design element is unlikely to be effective.
Also the idea of wireless communications is central to the product (e.g. WiFi, 3G). Incorporating this into the design should get bonus points. But please note - do not incorporate commercial licensed trademarks (e.g. Bluetooth) into the logo!
The colours are chosen to contrast with the colour schemes of the competitors however, they are not set in stone.
