BiggerBids (or Bigger Bids) http://www.biggerbids.com
BiggerBids allows eBay sellers to give their auctions a professional look and feel, while automating many of their repeated selling tasks.
In a nutshell, the eBay seller types in the details about the item they are selling, uploads pictures of that item and then chooses a layout that best meets the needs of that auction. They can then post that professional looking auction to their favorite auction site (generally eBay).
We appeal mainly to online auction sellers (mainly eBay sellers). However, those sellers do have BiggerBids branding on their auctions, so it's important that our logo also appeal to the general shopping community.
Less is more. We're searching for something truly unique that does more than dress up our domain name. Please note: we are also making major changes to the design of our web site, so please ignore the design you see there.
We have no restrictions on specific colors that are to be used, nor on specific ideas for designs. We want to experience your creativity.
Below are some of my favorite logos that convey the type of branding I'd like BiggerBids to have. As you can see, less is more and creativity is key.

Notice how many of those concepts incorporate a design into the actual text and make a great use of whitespace?

Added After the contest has begun:
---------------------------
> Think ecommerce. Think along the lines of online transactions. Person-to-person sales/transactions. However, we don't want to incorporate actual currency (collar bills, coins, etc) into the design.
> Think improved communications. In many ways, we offer our customers improved communications with their customers by way of better auction layouts. The theory there is that when a potential customer is looking at a well organized auction item, they can get the information they need quicker. In turn that puts a feeling of ease in the buyer's mind, knowing that they are dealing with a professional seller.
> Get away from the gavel (that thing that looks like a hammer that an auctioneer holds). We help online sellers look more professional in their online auctions. We are not an auction house. So although I get the gavel reference, it feels a bit too "old school" for our purposes.
