The Bookkeeping Center: Building the Workforce One Bookkeeper at a Time
The Bookkeeping Center is a non-profit organization based in New York City featuring an innovative and accessible bookkeeping training and career development program, DISCOVERBOOKKEEPING. Since 2007, we’ve taught skill-seeking, unemployed and low-income adults the fundamentals of bookkeeping and computerized accounting software. As we are a new organization, we are always open to expansion and further developing our bookkeeping training program as well as our career development program. Our hopeful participants enroll in DISCOVERBOOKKEEPING to not only build their bookkeeping skills, but to build stable careers in today’s unstable job market. We offer DISCOVERBOOKKEEPING at a low-cost, applying real-world examples for easy comprehension. Maurice Smith, the co-founder of The Bookkeeping Center and Instructor of DISCOVERBOOKKEEPING, as well as the rest of the staff, has developed an easygoing, positive, and uplifting environment for our participants. We encourage our participants to look to The Bookkeeping Center as a reliable resource for not only their bookkeeping knowledge but for all of their career development and transition needs.
Dicci qualcosa su di te e sulle persone che vuoi raggiungere
Our audiences consist of our program participants (students), institutional & programmatic supporters, partnering organizations, individual donors, funders, politicians, and other non-profits & businesses concerned with financial health & stability.
Our students range from ages 25-55, with 85% of them being women. 45% of our students come from an immigrant background, and have generally been low-income. However, due to the recession and job-cuts, we have seen an increase in professionals from a diversity of employment backgrounds coming to us to make a career transition. Our students are optimistic and motivated to develop new skills.
Our Supporters – be they partners, individual donors, funders, politicians, etc – are socially-minded, cause-related, practical, result-driven and financially aware. They may have an entrepreneurial mindset and charitable heart. Ultimately, they expect from us a program that is concerned with the community’s long-term financial stability with practical solutions and measurable results.
We would like a designer to approach this project with the mindset of a compassionate and professional non-profit leader.
We seek a simple, meaningful, professional, communicative, and most importantly human logo that can speak to the sincerity of our mission as a non-profit.
Our color preferences are whites, oranges, yellows, blues, greens, and grey tones.
Your logo will become a guiding force in branding the mission, programs, and services of our non-profit. We are a young-identity organization; ultimately, we are open to a variety of solutions.
We thank you for your participation.
NOTE: The Bookkeeping Center does not have a current and active website. Please let us know if you need further details, including images of our students taking class and brochures that we have made in the past. You can contact our Project Coordinator, Lynn Mercredi, at email@example.com
