I'm still at a very early stage, putting together a presentation and biz plan. With an idea so emotionally rooted, and a name with emotional resonance, I need a logo that will make people smile :-) In saying that it shouldn't be too syrupy or twee. It shouldn't be flashy or too modern like the Picasa logo, but it shouldn't be too retro with serif fonts (I could maybe be persuaded if you feel strongly).
This logo could well be as simple as the word "Mindings" in the right font, with a graphic twist - I'm thinking the Skype logo.
In a way it's mostly about photos, but it's also about sending texts, Tweets, calendar and ToDo reminders etc - but moreover it's about my Dad sitting in his living room and a photo popping up and he thinks "what a lovely photo/text - they're having a nice time, yet they're thinking about me" - it's about that emotional connection.
Check out http://www.flickr.com/photos/cjarnott/ these are the photos I upload. That's what it's all about.
Think a large 12" display in an attractive wooden frame, taking pride of place on the mantlepiece (with few pictures, but regularly updated) - instead of a wee 6" perspex frame sitting gathering dust on a bookshelf (with 100 pictures running on a loop, never updated).
I've no "brand guidelines" yet, so no fonts or colour scheme.
Remember I'm British - we're more reserved than most so not too much syrup ;-)
