Create a logo for a new research centre in Oxford

Centre for Manuscript and Text Cultures

We are an academic research centre at The Queen's College, Oxford (https://www.queens.ox.ac.uk/centre-…t-cultures). We conduct inter-disciplinary events (seminars, workshops, conferences) and publish our own journal on manuscripts, inscriptions, and text cultures of ancient Mesopotamia, Greece and Rome, East and South Asia, Mesoamerica and Medieval Europe. We study how the proliferation of the written word in accessible forms caused profound societal transformations in different parts of the ancient world.

The text on the logo should be easily readable. We are looking for something that looks creative, yet classical. It should look well in both colour and monochrome.

We provide a package with images of different manuscript and epigraphic objects that we have discussed at our seminars to give you some ideas and inspiration. There is no need to build on any one of them.

Text is more important for us than the graphic component, which can be schematic. We would like to avoid shallow associations (manuscript roll, brush, pen etc.), unless they are creatively and freshly re-interpreted.
