I am Rob Bazinet and I run a small software company, Still River Software in Woodstock, CT.
My goal is to create web applications which solve various problems faced by internet users, business people or Mom and Dad, on a regular basis. My philosophy is similar to that of 37Signals.com (great model of course), create simple software that solves problems of the user in a simple way.
I like a warm feeling to my software, cozy and homey, if that makes sense. I don't like flash, I do like creative and unique designs though but nothing that screams out "I need attention".
I write software like this because there is a need for very targeted solutions. There is not a need for the next version of Microsoft Word.
The audience for our newly acquired Expensd.com application is for anyone who needs to track expenses and do it simply. Expense tracking is not exciting but it is a necessity for individuals, small business owners and employees of large companies trying to keep what they spend in order.
Since it is not exciting, we want to do it right, get to the point and get it out of the way. No complex systems for capturing this important data.
Please take a look at the web site - http://www.expensd.com and look at the current design, it is very clean. The logo is very nice as well but we need to add our own identity to the site. This site was acquired from the previous owner and the logo needs to be changed.
Please pay attention to the name, it is Expens'd and is spelled as it is intentionally.
I don't have particular requirements other than a new logo which will fit in the existing space, it should fit in with the existing design, taking color into account. The site, as of the time I write this, says it is closed to new signups but that will change later today or tomorrow. Please create a free account and see how it works. This might help with the design.
I am very open to creativity, but just not too flashy. This is a conservative application and the audience will mainly be small business owners, not teenagers or rockers.
I am attaching the current logo. Feel free to create something entirely new, we can't appear that we just changed the existing logo a bit.
