Identify & Explore Multicultural Picture Books

Diverse BookFinder is a first-of-its kind online searchable database of children’s picture books featuring diverse people. This is the second round of logo design and will be a guaranteed prize.

The Diverse BookFinder database assists librarians, teachers, book publishers, authors and parents in identifying picture books that include depictions of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, socioeconomic class and more. We understand how showing young children depictions of self and others can impact their identities and views of the world.

THEMES FOR LOGO:
It's important that the logo represent the themes of the project, especially:
-Diversity
-Books (Especially picture books)
-Kids

IMPORTANT COLOR INFO:
Logo will need to live as its own entity, however, should pair well with an existing parent brand that uses the Sabon Next and Neuefrutiger fonts with HEX#881124. Parent brand and Diverse BookFinder brand should be distinct.

CONCEPT FOR THE DESIGN:
The stakeholders have a concept (attached) that they wish to see brought to life. The basic concept is black and white hand-drawn-style children's heads accompanied by the words "Diverse BookFinder." The slogan may or may not be incorporated with it.
---EACH CHILD SHOULD BE DISTINCT AND RACIALLY UNIQUE FROM THE OTHERS. For example, the children shown in the concept include long, straight hair, curly hair, short and spiked hair, an afro, a hajib, a bald child with a baseball cap, etc. The child with the hajib's eyes are shown peering over the wall to look at the book V below.
--LOGO TEXT SHOULD BE COLORFUL. Bright, primary colors are preferred and text should continue the hand-drawn style of the children above.
--THE V in Diverse should be a book, partially open

A successful logo for this project will capture the hand-drawn quality of the children shown here and be able to show a variety of racially distinct hairstyles for the children. A long-term band style for this will be to show additional children's heads to emphasize diversity.

The judges will be asking themselves, "is this logo or icon one I'd want to wear on a t-shirt?" It must be distinct, recognizable and fun.
