Design a supercomputer logo for the University of Sheffield's Stanage HPC Cluster!

The University of Sheffield focuses on life-enhancing research, innovation and education at both global and local levels, with a strong history of connecting students and researchers to the right partners and collaborators in order to achieve the best results. Formally established in 1905, the university is part of the prestigious Russell Group as well as a current Top 100 world ranked university. In 2022, Sheffield will bring their Stanage High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster online. Designed as a Tier 3 supercomputer, Stanage will serve as a university-wide system allowing students and researchers access to run computing workloads in such areas as biology, medicine, aerospace, energy, genomics and ecology. At the point of installation, Stanage will serve as the university’s fifth-generation supercomputer, furthering an impressive 15-years of knowledge and research in HPC at the university. The name Stanage is taken from Stanage Edge, a gritstone cliff located in the Peak District just outside the city of Sheffield. The HPC team chose to name the cluster after Stanage Edge due to the shear scale of the four-mile long edge and to the way the landmark attracts walkers, climbers and others from a variety of backgrounds; they hope that this HPC system will support a wide range of cutting ‘edge’ research conducted by the diverse research community at the University. The University of Sheffield’s colours and logo are within the azure blue colour scheme, often utilising silver highlights as a means to connect with the city’s founding industry of steelmaking. The area of Stanage Edge showcases brown and orange colours against green and blue skies and would be a welcome addition within the logo design.
