I wish to create a personal portfolio website that shows my experience initiating and growing impactful ventures. I want the site to highlight how I have propelled worthy companies, projects, and campaigns towards success— building from scratch or leading change. I have launched startups and transformed existing companies by contributing novel ideas and energy and my site should demonstrate that I can help other people to do the same.

Design Guidelines I would like to see several explorations of an emblem representing a flying squirrel. Similar to those with a startup mindset, these animals leap outward with a dash of daring and courage– unleashing power and potential. But, they must also then glide skillfully through the air. Indeed, to reach a goal, it takes energy and optimism to spring to action as well as deftness and nimble control to carry you to your target. This is how I have successfully launched numerous companies, projects, and campaigns already and how I can help anyone else to launch something new. The emblem should accompany a lettermark featuring simply “JM”- my own initials. Since I intend to show how I propel projects forward– I think the squirrel should be jumping away from (facing the opposite direction) of the lettermark. But, this isn’t a deal breaker if it somehow works better the other way. Feeling The logo should represent core tenets of momentum and fearlessness. I would like it to be somewhat modern, sleek, minimal, and refined so that it can project quality, authority, and credibility, reflective of my professionalism, experience, and the range of skills I can offer. However, it should also convey accessibility, approachability, and supportiveness. This might be accomplished through an “illustrated look” that suggests a warmth, softness, and playfulness bringing to mind the notions of curiosity and taking risks. Font The font used for the lettermark should complement the emblem, and hopefully, strike a tone evoking and reinforcing the feelings listed above. With the lettermark being simply the two letters of my initials– JM– perhaps large, blocky letters would work to balance with the size of the emblem. Colors Potential colors I am considering using in my branding and website are: coral #ff8d72 tan #deb381 navy #1d2654 royal blue #026bb0 The logo could be a single color or any two of these colors. But, importantly, the logo should also translate well in both all black and all white. Shape If the lettermark “JM” is used– I think the logo (lettermark and emblem) will naturally be roughly square or circular in terms of composition. References I have found numerous flying squirrel emblems that could serve as inspiration. Obviously, these would need to be customized while incorporating and complementing the lettermark.
