Panoramica

UpEnergy fights poverty, improves health, and protects forests by making clean energy technologies available to those that live on less than $5 a day in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

The name “UPEnergy” is intended to signify the use of clean energy as a means of uplifting those in need. It is the use of clean technology to help countries develop in a sustainable manner and create a better quality of life for those residents.

We have been working in the developing world for the past 4 years as a world-renowned, non-profit and have already impacted the lives of over 400,000 people and helps save over $4 million per year.We are now continuing our work by creating UpEnergy with the hope that we can scale this impact to millions more!

UpEnergy provides low-income households with clean-burning cookstoves to reduce indoor air pollution caused by the burning of wood in traditional kitchen fires. Water purification units are provided to reduce the need to boil water and reduce the risk of water-borne disease. They also provide solar lighting to enable households to be more productive in the home without the risk of dangerous fires caused by traditional kerosene lamps.

UpEnergy specializes in attracting investment for these types of projects in order to scale the social impact to those in need.

We are a business-to-business entity without a strong consumer facing presence. Instead we do the work behind the scenes to get clean technologies to those in need. We build projects in developing countries, primarily in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Our audience fits into 3 distinct categories in order of prevalence: 1) Investors (mainly in Europe and the US) They are highly skilled individuals that either work for professional investment firms or are high net worth individuals that care about return on their investment. They are used to formal and structured presentations of information. Bright colors and overly "fun" icons would not be appropriate for this audience. 2) Industry specialists (mainly in Europe and the US) They are a combination of people that come from the non-profit / economic development space and those that come from the carbon market space. This is a highly-specialized, relatively tight-knit group of people focused on growing the industry, positive social impact and combating climate change. They are in part motivated by doing good in the world. 3) In-field partners (in Africa, Latin America and Asia) They are local companies that we contract with to manufacture and distribute our products to the end user. English is unlikely to be their first language so our name needs to be easy to read.

The name “UPEnergy” is intended to signify the use of clean energy as a means of uplifting those in need.

We need:
- a logo that can be easily transfered to all our marketing materials (website, reports, business cards, etc.)
- the logo can be just the name or the name with an icon
- the logo should be professional looking (not fun/playful and should not look like a non-profit)
- the logo should reflect the idea that we are using energy to uplift those in need. It would be great to get a sense of movement/ascension from the design. Be creative!
- it can reflect that we deliver "water, fire and light" related products
- it should be in a vector file
- it should be easy to read
- it should have a maximum of 2 colors. we prefer strong, saturated colors and sharp lines.
- colors used should reflect our focus on the environment and people i.e. naturally occurring colors (blues, yellows, greens, oranges etc.) No red!
- it must have a clean and uncluttered look

We do not want:
- cluttered, busy designs
- very literal interpretations
- a very wide logo (from top to bottom)

Logos we like:

"3Degrees" - clean simple easy to read. Reference to "degrees" at the end, maybe a little literal, could be more creative.

"First Climate" - very easy to read, 2 color logo. icon is not adding much value, could be improved on

"Essent" - logo gives feeling of movement
