Many years ago, the company founder's grandfather challenged his children and grandchildren to "make their mark" in this world; to measure up. Whether in work, a positive, energetic demeanor or a commitment to community and service, this idea has inspired a consulting business focused on marketing for small to medium sized businesses. The name of the company is deliberate and important to the founder: (1) There is a [longer] story that is strongly connected to a mission and a great man who founded a community college - and educated thousands of people (2) The company will essentially be helping business make their mark through planning & contract work (3) It’s a simple & strong idea & name (4) The corporate staff is committed to the delivery of excellent, high quality work (that’s making a mark). (5) Finally, Make Your Mark Consulting is extremely committed to outreach and service (volunteerism, social responsibility etc) for the community.
In this economy, many companies are outsourcing their sales and marketing projects that can not be done in-house. Make Your Mark Consulting Inc is affordable, strong, has a highly dedicated founder and team, and delivers excellent value. Every business needs to make its mark.
The target customer is small to medium sized businesses. They range from healthcare facilities to product manufacturers to small retail outlets. Currently, the business plan is focusing on two different target markets: (1) The neonatal intensive care unit equipment manufacturers and (2) small local businesses.
The founder has extensive experience in the neonatal industry and has formed relationships with many hospitals, companies, non-profits and customers as a result. After completing a masters degree in business, she has further expanded the scope of work to include high quality planning to assist small businesses. The target audience - professionals who will contract with Make Your Mark - are business development contacts, senior corporate staff members (CEO, CFO, COO - C-suite), directors of marketing and sales, PR Directors, and business teams.
There have been two major directions thus far with regard to logo ideas. (1) The notion of using a wax seal with a large 'M' in it and Make Your Mark Consulting printed in a circle around the 'M'. (see attached. Grey is favorite.) (2) The idea of using punctuation marks ... They help to communicate a statement, strength, uniqueness and ownership. Marks include question marks, exclamation marks, trade marks, service marks, beauty marks, etc. These are only ideas. We hope the designer will make his or her 'own mark' on a potential logo.

Likes:Deep (brown) red or strong palette of colors possibly muted, Simple logo with words and an icon, legible and professional fonts, possible use of a compass knot (denoting direction and planning), something that will flow nicely into a business card, website and letterhead. Samples attached.
Dislike: Too many colors (one or two max), 'Over' design or too many words and icons, pastel colors, whimsical theme, no cartoons, clip art or shading/flip of letters.
