We are a start-up, small, supportive, boarding high school with regular/required study abroad / cultural immersion programs (USA, Costa Rica, Peru, Austria, & South Africa so far). Curriculum also incorporates global citizenship competencies and experiential & outdoor education. All students participate in a 4-year Portfolio project that applies multimedia skills in documenting their experiences and growth over their high school years.
Our "approach" is "supported immersion" which means we work with ourselves, each other and communities through 3 main concepts: empathic connection, collaborative empowerment, and process-based scaffolding and support. Our vision is a world of creative global citizens generating responsible action. Our school provides students with holistic and experiential approaches to education and development and intentionally integrates emotional and social development to help students become well-balanced, healthy, resilient and productive citizens. Students learn skills to become self-generating, complex, creative contributors to themselves, their relationships, their communities and the world.
Our target audience is both high school students as well as their parents. Parents are typically wealthy enough to afford a boarding school but will be nontraditional enough to want to send their kid to an integrated and holistic boarding school that travels internationally (rather than a school that only focuses on Ivy League acceptances). Families attracted to our school will also likely be attracted to vacations at national parks and international destinations that are NOT all-inclusive resorts. With a successful start-up, we will be incorporating a scholarship program to bring true diversity and cultural immersion at all levels to our boarding school.
PS - SIGA in Spanish means "to follow" but it also means "to continue on" or "to persist" - we love this double meaning when it comes to education and instilling a love for life-long learning in our students. Thanks in advance for your consideration!
