My organization creates language teaching curriculum (for use by teachers in the classroom). We create products for both adult and child learning levels, so a logo that is both playful, but also sophisticated is ideal. We also do consulting for schools interested in incorporating our product into their existing systems, so a level of professionalism in the logo is necessary.

A graphically self contained logo is desired, with the company name enclosed within the design, rather than text outside of the actual graphic design.
It would be best if the logo can go well on several different colour backgrounds (not just white or black, for example), as we intend to place it on a lot of our digital materials.
Our company creates learning products that include a lot of hands on activities, such as cooking, play with LEGO, board games and technology, such as robots. I don't expect the logo to incorporate all of that information, but perhaps the knowledge that our "educational philosophy" is activity based will be useful for creating some inspiration.
