Beautiful South is a Melbourne based boutique lifestyle agency, providing creative magazine editorial services exclusively to the interior design & decor industry.
I style photography for magazines and write the copy/feature story.
I would like to take on more interior design clients and help them get featured in magazines
The business is called 'Beautiful South' as it is based in the southern states of Australia and I have connections with UK magazines too- Australia is also obviously south of Europe. The Beautiful South were also a UK alternative rock band of the late 90s-2007.
Jo McComiskey(business owner of Beautiful South) is a freelance interior stylist for lifestyle magazines with over 20 years experience in the publishing and magazine industries. As the former Creative Director for Australian House & Garden magazine, Jo has a real passion for design, interiors. Having worked on both sides of the magazine page she knows how to transform an interior into a collection of beautiful, print ready images. Jo prides herself on her superior depth of industry knowledge, which gives her access to a network of key industry professionals such as magazine editors, preferred lifestyle photographers and freelance writers.

Interior Designers and the homewares/decor industry is the target audience.
Interior designers need to showcase their work with the media, specifically Lifestyle magazines, such as House Garden, Home Beautiful etc.
Designers can be very hesitant about approaching clients for magazine editorial due to privacy issues.
Homewares/decor stores need product placement in magazines features etc.
Interior designers/decor retail are stylish, on trend, classic, contemporary-it's a broad brush depending on their clients.
I need a logo that is stylish and funky. Mainly just type with a simple graphic element/flourish/embossed looking stamp that references interior design.
Not too elegant or fussy as it has to be both contemporary and classic.
Choose a typeface that will stand the test of time and not date.
Logo must include tag line underneath logo:
lifestyle images &editorial.
- Be 100% original (No stock photos/art or off-the-shelf fonts accepted.)
- Work in 1 color (entries requiring multiple colors or gradients will not be considered.)
- Be versatile (The logo will be used on stationary, print advertising, web etc.)
I need to be able to change the colour of the logo-not sure of format for that? jpg.
Simple use of type with one graphic element that is NOT a house-its about interior decor not building/dwellings.
also no initials/acronyms- for obvious reasons!
