GECC (Griffin Early Childhood Center)
Funded by a $10 million private philanthropic grant, Harvard and the University of Chicago are in the process of beginning a multi-year initiative to identify programs and strategies for improving education in America's schools.
As part of this, we will be opening two innovative, free pre-schools later this year. Each program will track and assess the academic success of participating students through the time of their high school graduation, in an effort to measure which early approaches have the most impact and provide the greatest benefit. This research will provide measurable data to help understand how different approaches impact future academic success.
Moms and dads (and grandparents) of pre-school-aged children who live in a very diverse city outside of Chicago. Our audience is approximately equally divided between white, Hispanic, and African-American parents.
Because this is a pre-school, we're in search of a logo that communicates to parents that GECC is:
* A place kids ages 3-5 will love to go
We're looking for an icon (composed of either our initials or a graphic) accompanied by our full name (Griffin Early Childhood Center).
"MUSTS": We're looking for a logo that's colorful, youthful, friendly, and fun, and appropriate for a school focused on 3- to 5-year-olds. Ideally, it will be somewhat simple and will communicate "pre-school" in a glance.
The logo will appear in newspaper and bus shelter ads, on posters, on the school's website and letterhead, and on t-shirts, pencil cases, backpacks, etc., given free of charge to pre-schoolers and their parents.
