I'm building a brand around the concept of taking "the road less traveled." Where I examine and share (un)conventional insights of life's every day challenges through the perspective of success and failure, and how this process is essential to personal growth and development.
This brand would apply to self-aware, independently thinking creatives between the ages of 18-35. This group would embrace counter-culture and seek information and knowledge on alternative lifestyles and fashion. They are perhaps formally educated with a college degree. They may disagree with the mainstream media. They seek to be informed on things that service function over ego. They're passionate and fiery. Loud and opinionated. They realize that anything worth doing is going to be challenging, test their patience, and above all else--require dedication and consistency. They seek information products on how to become a better at their craft, whatever that may be. They are always learning from the experiences of others and observing the world through clear eyes, always questioning. These people may be entrepreneurs, musicians, artists, doctors, or autodidacts. A lot of these people hang out online on other blogs representing the same image, such as Chris Guillebeau from the Art of Nonconformity or Mark Sisson from Mark's Daily Apple.

I'd like it to be be edgy (contemporary), yet classic (50's-esque) to match how the trends are going today. I have a very holistic approach to my business and would like that somehow conveyed in the logo. If you feel that there are better color choices than the ones I provided, please feel free to use your discretion. Those were simply the colors I like and connect with, but I don't want to limit the creativity process by placing boundaries.
P.S. - If I really like what you do for me and this ramshackle startup, I'll boast about you on the blog and work with you on future projects. Just sayin'... :) Can't wait to check out your design!
