FINALISTS PLEASE READ carefully:
We are involved in a complicated rebranding process with our national organization so we are not in a position to finalize a logo at this time. We are going to award the prize to the designer who submits a wide variety of creative concepts and shows versatility, responsiveness, and an understanding of our desired brand.
We will provide feedback and award stars on designs but we will be looking for ideas, alternatives and options, as opposed to honing in on one perfect design. In short, we will be awarding the designer for potential, not for the perfect design. We cannot guarantee future work but we will likely have graphic design
needs such as logo, program covers, buttons, etc. There is also
potential for work from our partners in other states.
A few reminders about our design:
Please read the slogans we have added to the brief!
You cannot separate the words so that "school-based" and "health alliance" cluster together in that way. Possible clusters are: "school-based health" "alliance" "california" OR "school-based health alliance" "california". We do not want the word "alliance" or the word "california" to be dominant.
We would like all designs submitted in two versions, one black and white, as separate entries. Since we have not yet chosen colors, we will likely poll in b and w so as not to bias responses based on color. (However we are interesting in seeing your ideas for colors)
Our current website is http://www.schoolhealthcenters.org. We are open to changing our colors.
Our current logo is too complex and doesn't read well when it is small.
We are always struggling with the desire for images that convey both aspects of our work: schools and health. But we don't want anything too medical like a stethoscope or caduceus. In general, we have observed that when you try to get too clever and put a nurse inside an apple or a stethoscope inside a book, it just looks weird.
We'd like a text treatment with a small or not too prominent image that adds visual interest and preferably is linked to our work. We would like to see some options with "A" in health as an apple and we also want to see ideas that are not apples.
Lastly, while we want to convey some element of children and friendliness, we don't want it to be too light. We do things like submit position papers and testify in the legislature - we need to be taken seriously.
