We are Space-Time Mechanics LLC. My wife and I formed the company out of our love for Astronomy. I am a software engineer by profession with a "minor" in electrical engineering. My wife is dying from underemployment. Together we came up with the concept for our first product: Space-Time Pioneer. It has taken us almost a year to go from concept to production. We have 100 units built-up and ready for sale. The website is nearly complete. Final step is a logo and advertising. We are hoping that the fine people at 99designs can help us close the loop!
We attempted to make the device appeal to a wide audience. Clearly, anyone with an interest in Astronomy will find Space-Time Pioneer attractive on a number of levels: (1) the device is ALWAYS ON, no need to wait several minutes to boot up a conventional computer, and (2) the screen conveys a wealth of information that should appeal to all Astronomy enthusiasts, professional and amateur alike. In addition, we have had very positive feedback regarding the Advanced Alarm Clock feature. College students are especially interested since the device supports as many as 9 simultaneous alarms that can be configured for any time of the day, and any day of the week. And finally we believe that Space-Time Pioneer should be attractive to Astrologers, Gardeners, and to parents or grandparents looking for a unique gift for the kids.
While we are open to all ideas we believe that a simple graphic of a easily recognized heavenly body, like the Moon or Saturn, should be central to the design. Beyond that, perhaps an electronic symbol of a transistor floating on or near the Moon or Saturn, or perhaps a calculus symbol, or even a cog / gear (get it? Space-Time "Mechanics").
