The cover is for 2 periodicals published and sold online, the International Journal of Tantric Studies (IJTS), and the Journal of South Asia Women Studies (JSAWS). They are the first 2 academic, peer-reviewed and award winning periodicals online (est. 1994).
They both talk about Asia. The contributors are scholars from all over the world, and well-educated journalists specialized in Asian Studies. The readership is the academia (libraries) mainly from the US and UK.
The IJTS talks about Tantra philosophy, linguistics, and translations. The JSAWS about Gender Studies (Gender, Human Rights, Women ancient and contemporary). Both include scholarly studies, and one article each issue on contemporary and more mainstream Asian issues, usually commenting on recent news from the region.
This is the first message that I would like the covers to convey: the journals are serious academic stuff, yet very innovative both in terms of media, layout, and of course content.
The journals will be sold on Amazon in both electronic and printed formats. So the cover should be serious/classy yet flashy.
They belong to the Asiatica Association (NGO), which is a well established NGO with its graphics, logo, and colors, and it would be nice if one the messages conveyed by the covers could be of reminding the readers that the Journals are part of a larger institution.
On the cover I want a big title (e.g. International Journal of Tantric Studies) and a smaller subtitle (e.g. IJTS). The background of the cover of both journals should have the same orange of the layout of the Asiatica Association (as a frame? Inside?), at the glance it should recall the Asiatica Association in fact, but with some new feature. It should for instance have 1 or 2 more colors. Perhaps 1 or more different color(s) for each? I thought of indigo since I love it and it is a good contrast - and? Something well matching with orange I think. And perhaps a picture/photo? I do not know. Anyway, the whole should not be too messy or packed.
Besides the large title, the cover should show the ISSN numbers, vol. and issue number.
Each journal’s logo should also be placed on the cover: a peacock for the IJTS, a tiger in a jungle for the JSAWS. The background should be the same (or perhaps with the same Asiatica orange and a different color or set of colors each).
