Concept: The basis concept is that we would like to create a series of playful (but no too childish) posters that will catch our kids interest, become a place to “rest their eyes on” while reflecting, and thereby gradually learn the content of what they see.
In this first Poster, we are planning to find a playful way of illustrating the multiplication table (for the older kid) and at the same time simply introduce the basic figures 1-9 (for the younger).
Format: We plan the final printout to be A2, and would like to receive the final format as an InDesign-file so we can adjust colors (we have not yet set the color theme for the room, so need to be adjustable).
Layout: Our initial thought has been to simply divide the poster into 9 equally sized areas, where there is an (again playful) dominant figure from 1 to 9, starting from the leftmost-top-corner.
Each of these 9 areas, should have the following components:
The key dominant figure in one part of the area (showing which area we are in 1-9)
One part of the area covered with different playful ways of showing the same figure in different forms, colors, with different fonts (so the kids will recognize the figure in different forms and colors)
One part of the area showing the multiplication table in one, two or three columns covering 1-9, e.g 1 x 1, 2 x 1, …., 9 x 1.
Multiplication table: We have included the multiplication table as a reference. Again, we would like to include 1 x … - 9 x …, not including … x 0. Also, note we prefer that the first figure increase 1 x 1, 2 x 1, …. 9 x 1
Style references: We do not want to limit your creativity but still give some preferred style guidance, so we have included some references of the styles we are looking for the moment.
We have included some sketches to show the thoughts behind this, but again, do not feel limited by the sketches – these are only early thoughts!!
