Fina Dupa | http://www.finadupa.com
Combine the hooky edge of alternative rock, the grooving rhythm of funk, the easy attitude of reggae, and the innovation of electronic music. Stir well and cook, very hot. This is the sonic recipe for Colorado-based Fina Dupa and their new album "Are You Happy...Now?"
Fina Dupa projects a distinct musical brand. The players are highly trained and musically literate, and the music carries a degree of sophistication - much like Steely Dan of the 70s, the Police of the 80s, and the Dave Matthews band today. The songs are radio-friendly, yet carry a degree of unpredictability, making every live show different. This band is, above all other things, interesting.

Fina Dupa primarily targets the age 35-50 audience range, with overlap into the 20-35 range. We appeal to the same people who enjoy good food and good wine, who spend time outdoors, and who are likely to spend disposable time and income enjoying the arts. They also might act a little naughty when nobody is looking. Our music, brand, and designs appeal intellectually and artistically, and are relaxing and fun.
The upcoming album, "Are You Happy...Now?" addresses the life cycle of love relationships and explores lots of good and bad things that can happen when we find someone. Songs like "Tease", "Casita", and "Helicopter" illustrate the emotion that drives the beginning of a relationship. "Saturday", "You Turn Me On", and "Almazul" look at the ups and downs of a relationship in action, and "Fallout", "Broke Again", and "Heartache" look at the downstream effects of a relationship gone wrong. The songs range from upbeat funk to cool R&B.
Images for the CD cover and back should reflect happiness as an unpredictable and fleeting emotion, and in more of a cynical than sunny way. Here are a few potential concepts, but please do not feel bound by this list:
- A field of spheres or shapes, suggesting a world full of people, with a subtle smile on only one of them. See upload.
- A creative presentation of two people who either are or aren't getting along; maybe both
- A satirical or sarcastic suggestion that happiness can be obtained externally, possibly subbing "RU" for "Are You" in the album name to indicate a prescription.
No guidelines on use of photography, digital image, or otherwise. Let's see what ideas you have; we have no preconceived notions.
We will use the designs in a standard CD cover application. So please use 12 cm x 12 cm (4.75 inches x 4.75 inches) as the measurement.
Multiple awards are possible.
