This design was a playful, clever, and somewhat bold ad campaign concept that seeks to embolden several aspects of the brand so that it stands differentiated from the competition. It would be sure to garner the attention of potential customers and create a memorable association with the brand.
Although it may be a slightly edgier approach than the company's traditional marketing, perhaps this isn't a bad thing... Do these ads “get me”? Do they speak to my complexities as a person? My sense of humor, my desire for companionship, my sexuality? (We are talking about sharing mattresses here.) The existing ads in the styleguide (illustration, wild posting, and social media) show a propensity for the brand to be reaching for a slightly more playful and urban feel than it's competitors. This scheme fully embraces that personality.
