Create the next website design for CalMoPo

CalMoPo

This project is for an online news site. The site will have original content, aggregation, community engagement and needs a heavy social media presence.

I am a big fan of the FT.com site. This is a much more crowded site than I am likely to have. But I enjoy their layout. And how they break up the left column with pictures and story posts. The font is up to you but I used Gil sans for the Logo.

However, I would like a pic/video location prominent on the front page.

I need a wordpress homepage that is bold and brings an innovative design to reach news readers. The most important thing is that it can connect with readers and doesn't look like a typical blog, but more like a news magazine.

I need the page to have two columns, a slide show, and incorporate video. The menu bar will include several sub-sections. I also need to give social media a large presence.

I also would like a "breaking news" section that is a small bar that runs under the menu bar.

I also am going to put banner ads on the site.

I would like the top to include the logo - feel free to work with the logo - and incorporate some color. But the news columns should have a white background, unless you think something should be better.

I would like one column to wrap around a slide show. The other needs to be able to be able to hold small snippets of stories, and the third will be the twitter/tumbler feed, and video at the top. I would like links to social media at the top.

Most importantly, it needs to be simple yet bold design. Feel free to be creative.
