I'm looking for a simple, clean and casual/fun design for a web site that lets stressed parents manage the details of their kids parties so everyone has a good time.
24 hour contest, I'll give lots of feedback, often.
My Kids Party HQ
I'm writing an application to scratch an itch: how to deal with kids parties, especially as toddlers through pre-teens, to get information out to parents of guests (what your kid likes, what they don't, what's inappropriate) and from those same parents (what's their cell phone, is their kid allergic to anything, etc). It's intended to be simple and easy exchange of information around the party.
I'll have a landing page, maybe have some stock photography of kids parties that display with a blurb about what the site is, and 2 very obvious actions/paths: 1. Plan a party, 2. RSVP
Party planning page will be a "dashboard" of sorts for the parent. They'll have some party detail at the top (who's party, when, where) and areas to do other things:
- invites/rsvp -- group icon (who's coming, who's not)
- wishlist, etc -- gift icon (likes, dislikes, fav colors, etc)
- lists -- list icon (list of kids and emergency contacts to print for the party)
- Timeline -- watch (things that need to get done, confirm place, order cake, get balloons, etc)RSVP area, for attendees will let people tell the birthday girls parents:
1. who's coming
2. who the poc is (name and cell #)
3. allergies of the guest (nuts, chocolate, etc)
First and foremost I want simple and clean. The goal is for this to be used as a tool for parents to reduce some stress and have an enjoyable time with their kid.
I'll have a logo that should include "My Kids Party HQ". Working tagline is: "So you can enjoy the party too"
As far as a color scheme, I'm going to use a few of the icons from here (watch, present, list, group). I'm also getting a logo designed and will post details on that as I get them.
I'll need a few links
maybe contact, blog, faq in the footer
all upper or all lower case
don't clash with the logo colors (maybe it's stupid to design around that but I found a set that had everything I needed)
not a lot of graphics
tiny fonts, we're talking about parents (mostly my age 30s whose eyesight is drifting away from 20/15 to 20/30-20/40)
