We are a site that helps people keep track of their personal browsing history across different computers and browsers. The Infoaxe addon (available for IE and Firefox) automatically bookmarks every page you visit on the Web and makes it easy to find from all the browsers & computers you use by keeping your web history in sync in the cloud. Infoaxe's Feed Share feature, lets users share their reading
on their favorite sites with friends. Each user publishes real-time streams of browsing data that others can subscribe to and follow based on their interests.
Infoaxe was started by 2 graduate students from Stanford University.
We are targeting a mainstream consumer internet audience. The kind that would frequent sites like Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Hulu, Yahoo etc. We NOT targeting a niche/tech savvy userbase.

The 3 pages(templates) we want designs for are,
a. The landing page http://www.infoaxe.com/login.html
b. The search home page http://history-s3.infoaxe.com/searc…m.jsp?null
c. The Feed Share home page http://feedshare.infoaxe.com/feedsharehome.jsp

All the 3 templates above need to be re-designed with the following goals,
a. The goal for the landing page(login.html) is for it to be optimized for having people sign up. We need to give users enough information about the product but not so much that it adds to clutter. Facebook, linkedin etc all have good landing pages. We don't prefer a landing/login page like
Twitter since it has too many distractions (top tweets, trending topics etc)
We want this page to be about 2 things only. Signing up/Signing in. We want it to be optimized for Signing up rather than signing in, which is the case now (it requires an extra click to sign in).
b. The goal for the search home page(searchform.jsp) template that will be shared across the "browse history by date", search results pages etc
is to make it easy for people to find websites they've visited before. When
we don't have a match from web history results, we will show Google results and this needs to be factored into the design too. Currently we show web history and google results side by side which might not be the optimal design. Let us know if you have a better idea.
c. The goal for the Feed Share page(feedsharehome.jsp) is to show people what their friends are sharing now. This should incentivize users to share more, comment, like and engage with the feed items. Some good eg. are facebook news feed, twitter feed, digg etc.

Currently our design is inconsistent. The search home pages and search results pages have a different design compared to the Feed Share page.
For eg. the font style, colors, margins etc are different and Feed Share almost feels like a different site. Our website currently lacks 'fun', a typical
web 2.0 look (sites like facebook, twitter, linkedin, Quora, digg etc have this look) and is generally very coarse and drab looking. We want to improve its aesthetics overall and have a unified design feel across all the different pages and features.
Facebook -good for news feed (although might be getting a little cluttered now), landing page
Twitter, Digg -good for news feed
Quora -good example of simplicity and clutter free design
Google -for search results page (formatting of search result snippets has been tweaked after a ton of experimentation)
Blippy- has a nice fun feel to it
