This contest is for the design of SuperHeroSource.com. This is a brand new site that will sell super hero related costume items like Batman, Superman, Supergirl, Catwoman, IronMan, Spiderman, etc. The shopping cart I will use is Magento (http://www.magentocommerce.com). This is a FUN project so someone with a lot of creativity is needed to come up with the design. Having a love for comic books and super heroes will help too!
Site will sell similar products as http://www.buysuperherocostumes.com, but this site design is horrible and dated looking so please do not mimic this. I just want to let you get an idea of the products we sell. The site should have a nice slick Web 2.0ish feel.
You can make it masculine but not too much. Target audience is male but it will also include women's products so nothing super dark please.
HAVE FUN! This is a fun project. You MUST have a lot of creativity to come up with a design for this. :)
Design should be submitted in PSD format. In the future, all design changes and such will be done through you so expect repeat business from me.
1. Color scheme is up to you. For example, Superman colors of blue, red, yellow is a nice gender neutral color combo but still gives the superhero feel. Please choose a color combination accordingly.
2. I've always envisioned a kind of generic superhero as a mascot for the website. Something like this:
He would be on every page in the banner, to the side, etc. doing something like flying, lifting something, pushing text blocks etc. Something funny and interesting everytime you see him on the different site pages. Please try and incorporate a generic supehero mascot like this into the design so we stand out from our competitors. The letters "SHS" or something on his chest would be nice but whatever you can think of to brand him as our site's mascot will be fine.
4. Site will use Magento shopping cart. You may see live sites here:
or even get ideas for design elements from the Live Demos of Magento templates here (please do not copy any of these, this is just to get ideas of the layout and flow):
If you go to the Template Monster link here:
there is an option to demo each Magento template there. That way you can see and navigate these pages I am talking about. I think once you physically navigate one of those, you will have a better idea of how the layout should be. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Here are some real websites that use Magento so you can also get a feel for navigation here:
