Our overall goal is to communicate that we provide trustworthy and unbiased data of what is blocked on the Internet in China. We want journalists and researchers to use our data as a source of their stories of online censorship in China.
** 1. Front page (https://greatfire.org)
The front page should at a minimum include a logo (ignore the existing one), the search bar and preferably some visual illustration of the vast content of our database. This could be in the form of a chart showing how many websites are blocked over time or something else.
** 2. Blocked Websites (https://greatfire.org/blocked-websites)
This is the most visited page on our website. Like the front page, it could also display an illustration in addition to raw table data.
** 3. URL pages (such as https://greatfire.org/www.facebook.com)
Each url in our database has it's own page on our website showing whether it's blocked or not as well as historic data. Right now this is displayed in a calendar form but this is open to improvements.
** 4. Widget
We have a widget that is in use by some 20 other websites and shows an updated status of whether their website is blocked or accessible in China. We would like to create a better-looking design for this widget. You can see what it looks like on https://greatfire.org/contribution/…our-widget. You can also see a list of other websites that use our widget there so as to see it embedded on their sites. The widget design should match our overall design, yet work well when embedded on any other website. The dimensions should also follow some web standard, such as the Twitter or Facebook embed widgets.
