Wanted: eBook Cover for "Medellín Travel Guide"

I run the #1 travel blog about the city of Medellín, Colombia. In January 2013, I'm launching a new guide to the city. It's 24,000 words in length, and consists of 100% original content. It will initially be published for Kindle (and other ebook formats), and at a later date, as a PDF.

Title: Medellín Travel Guide Subtitle: Insider Advice from an American Expat in Colombia Author: David Lee What the book's about: A travel guide to Medellín, Colombia, written by an expat with 18 months experience living (and partying) there. The guide covers all the usual topics, including: - Getting there - Getting around (local transport) - Safety tips - Finding accommodation - Restaurants - Bars, salsa bars, and discotecas (nightclubs) - Sightseeing - Annual holidays/festivals - Visiting nearby pueblos, and a few suggestions for other parts of Colombia There's an emphasis on food, restaurants, and the nightlife and dating culture, as the latter is one of the biggest draws for (male) tourists to the city (along with the low cost of living). Target Demographic: Men and women 21-65 (younger people go to party, but increasingly, Medellin's being seen as a potential retirement destination by older, often single male, Americans.) The promise of the book: Get practical advice from an American who lived in the city for an extended time. 100% original, up-to-date information based on the author's personal experience. What emotion I want the book browser to feel when they see the cover: Excitement and anticipation about their upcoming trip to Medellin and Colombia. I want to help settle any fears they have regarding personal safety, while also providing them with the detailed info to make the most of their time in the city and region. Specs: - Must be noticeable at postage stamp size (based on how Amazon.com uses cover images) - Use bold fonts that make the headline instantly readable - Use simple images/illustrations - Bold, primary colors preferred (the city flag is green and white, which would be a nice reference to incorporate, but is not necessary) Initially I thought a photo could be used on the cover, but I've had a hard time finding any of my own (and I have thousands) that do a good job representing the city and book. They can be found on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/gobackpacking/collections/72157626510676246/ Today, the city is known for: - Spring-like temperatures year round (nicknamed "City of the Eternal Spring") - The mountains (the city is situated in a valley surrounded by them) - Pretty women - Partying and nightlife - Being innovative, and increasingly, attracting entrepreneurs I'd like the cover to be 1562 x 2500 pixels (below is part of the reasoning for this). I also can't stress enough how important it is that the cover "pop" as the smallest size thumbnail you see on Amazon.com and Kindle. That's where I expect to drive the most sales, though I also want it to look nice larger for the PDF version of course. "The inside cover for a normal kindle is 600 x 800 because that's the size of the screen but when you have it as a thumbnail on amazon - 600 x 800 (3:4 ratio) looks more like a magazine than a book and Amazon actually ask for 1562 x 2500 because that's the perfect size if someone buys the book and look at it on their iPad 3 - so basically bigger is better because it covers all the smaller size. You can scale down and it looks perfect."
