I'm a software developer just starting a new software consulting firm. Although I provide small software solutions, my main focus is providing training and consulting on Scrum and other agile development processes to small to medium businesses.
Scrum is a software industry term; it is a specific type of agile method, all of which encourage teams to adapt quickly to a changing marketplace, while at the same time emphasizing high quality at all times. "Confident" software is that which is fully tested, and because of this, you have confidence that it can be modified and enhanced without fear of creating more bugs.
If you have more questions about what this means, please do not hesitate to ask.
My passion is to help other people, groups and companies to be more successful in whatever they are focused on. I will be talking to customers and explaining what I can do to help them improve how they produce their product. I am excited about helping people, and get personal satisfaction in seeing the results of my effort. Scrum and agile is what I feel is the best way of helping software development teams be successful.

My audience consists of people in small or medium-sized companies who want their company to be more efficient, to produce higher quality software at a lower cost. These people have some leadership in the company and so have the ability to bring on an external consultant (me).
Another target audience is other consulting companies which are trying to fill positions but lack people with the necessary skill.
Providing agile software services is not a brand new market, but it is still relatively young. There are other people providing this, but perhaps not in the exact same manner.

I am looking for a logo for Confident Software. The logo must be strong (to inspire confidence), while at the same time lightweight (to show the agility). The trick is to create a single logo with both of these impressions. The logo will be used on business cards and on the new website.
Dos:
1. Simple, clean, and professional.
2. Any colors, but limit the number because it will be printed.
3. Be creative!
Dont's:
1. Not too Web 2.0-ish, complex, or busy. No 3D.
2. No "cs" abbreviations.
3. No "silly" fonts.
4. Not too "techy" -- see the target audience.
Icon:
I prefer some sort of icon, but it needs to be something more than some pretty swirls without meaning. Neither should it contain clip art. Some sort of illustration would be ideal (see below), but not absolutely necessary.
It would be nice if the icon implies in motion -- to represent how we can help teams move forward. I had one idea of a semi-hand-drawn logo (like Aetna), but in some sort of motion, possibly a person jumping over a hurdle (implies agility), maybe jumping over the name of the company. This is just one thought, and other ideas (similar or different) are welcomed. Free your mind.
I will be providing frequent feedback. Please let me know if I can provide any other background or direction.
