There’s a lot of humor in it so that needed to come across without the design appear childish. Since it is a non-fiction book, it made sense to create a scene that instantly speaks to the viewer. Paul suggested creating a scene to support and reinforce the title and I chose the image of a young man working on his laptop in his PJ’s.
Because I needed an element of surprise to make the cover look different, I placed the young man on a sofa made out of money bills. This was my way of making the cover look fun yet not childish. Paul was an amazing team player! I am extremely happy and proud to have provided him with a book cover design that he really loves! He was extremely kind to dedicate an entire article describing how satisfied he was with the design process of his book. Thank you so much, Paul, and looking forward to working with you again!")

That's why I chose to combine the image of a real Martial Arts practitioner with the image of Chinese herbs. This way, I ensured that the cover would instantly speak about the two main subjects: Martial Arts and Chinese herbal treatments. However, I wanted to create a cover that would stand out amongst a lot of other books treating the same subject. That's why I used my creativity to place the Martial Arts practitioner right on top of the title itself while I reserved the bottom half of the cover to a beautiful close-up photo of chinese herbs. My out-of-the-box layout helped te cover look memorable even though it was using standard visual elements.")

Blacks and golds were my perfect choice for an elegant look. Using silhouettes was also a good approach to creating strong contrast against the background. The use of simple elements and highly visible text created a clean yet upscale look. David was a true pleasure to work with. We went back and forth with a few revisions, but he was an important team player. Due to our great collaboration, we got an awesome iconic elegant cover for his Uncommon Success book.")

My goal was to subtly reflect the most important features of Skinny Dipping: sexy, romantic and fun. Since the book needed to look good in thumbnail view for E-publishing, I had to think about how to use the cover’s real estate the best way possible. My compromise was to make the cover look special and spicy at the same time. The element of surprise was the illustration of a beautiful sexy young woman placed inside a heart shaped life ring. That’s how I managed to get the best out of the three main features: sexy (the young woman,) romantic (the heart shaped life ring) and fun (the position of the woman inside the life ring.) To finish the cover, I made the title highly visible and added subtle ornaments around the title to make it look more feminine. I usually like to give a lot of importance to the back design of a book, so Skinny Dipping got a creative touch for the back cover too.")

After a few different versions, he also suggested specific images that he liked. We both decided upon the main image of a fun-looking suitcase surrounded by travel destinations from various countries. On the back cover, we used portraits of young people from different cultures to give the touch of reality that young audiences would be attracted to. It’s always a pleasure to work with authors who are open to ideas because this gives a lot of room for a designer to express her creativity. Chris has been a fantastic and important team player throughout the entire project. It was thanks to our combination of ideas and great communication that we got a beautiful cover design and a successful client-designer collaboration.")
